Fancy Dress Disco

After discussions the young people of ‘Choices’ Youth Group wanted to hold a disco for Easter. At the time we needed to raise some funds to enable us to buy a plaque in memory of a former youth worker Frances Thompson who sadly died recently.

We looked into music and got Dwaine Glover (18), who has experience of D.Jing, to run the music side of things. Huntingdon Youth Centre donated some disco lights and a smoke machine, and a Kareoke machine kindly donated by Chrissie Thompson proved very popular. We also invited Frances family and past workers who knew her to the night.

The evening was a great success, with refreshments and dancing. There was some great costumes and the workers faviourite was Amy Gray, who came as a pirate ‘Ahhh me hearty’!! We had a good attendance of over 45 young people and 10 adults which enabled us to raise the £78 needed for the plaque. Paul, Frances’ husband donated a sofa and a chair for the room.

The plaque is now up in the centre and have named the small group work room as ‘The Thompson Room., Paul, Frances’ husband donated a sofa and chair for the room so young people now have a lovely room where they can chill, chat and listen to music.
